Went with the wife and friends to see Cowboys and Aliens. It was an OK popcorn muncher. But I was disappointed since I had higher expectations of a Jon Favreau film. Where's the depth of treatment of...THE MONSTER?
So, to console myself, the next day I watched The Thing From Another World (1951). Back when men were men, women laughed at them all the time, and a monster was really the star of the show.
So what are you thinking about this re-make of "The Thing"? I think it will be one of the best arguments ever made for leaving brilliant origianls the F alone.
Agreed. Even as interesting as the Kurt Russell character was in the original remake (I can't believe I just said "original remake"), the movie was pretty bad.
The whole point was that the monster was ALIEN. It didn't need to be a parasite/switcho/chango special effect. And it looked too much like wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man. The giveaways for the new one make it look just like the last. Yawn.
